The picture to the right features a “waterfall” stair effect. As the name implies, the carpet runs down the step like water, with nothing to stop the free fall. This treatment is especially effective when using a patterned carpet or bordered runner, as it lets the pattern run like a river, with fewer starts and stops and therefore it creates an elongated appearance.
